The library's objective is
to gather texts related to
the Buddha's teachings.
Our priority is the preservation
of Buddhist texts of Tibetan
and Indian origin, especially those of the Kagyu lineage. Our
secondary goal is to offer a
representative compilation of
Buddhist literature.
According to Lama Jigmé Rinpoché:
Until the mid 20th century, when a dharma piece was published,
it
had to be ‘authorized’ first. One could not just
decide by oneself to write a commentary about the Dharma.
Each work, each commentary
was debated by scholars who
discussed and criticized it. The text was transformed and remodeled until
its meaning was just and perfect.
This is why texts written in the past are so very essential.
These texts are the
foundation of transmission and of
every aspect of practice; they cover many different branches,
from
philosophy to Buddhist theory to practical guidelines for
meditation
practice.
They include basic teachings that everyone can understand, foundations
of learning and meditation, as well as instructions that take the practitioner’s
understanding of Buddhism much deeper.
